Throttle surging

When the car is cold and started, on reversing, the throttle surges intermittently, I can see the revs go up/down/up/down.
Makes it difficult to back up even without pressing the gas.

any ideas? I have not noticed this when I drive forward on cold starts but forwards vs backup are 1:10

Mine has done this intermittently too, and only within the last month or two. Still searching for an answer but thinking it may be a vacuum leak somewhere. Any luck finding your issue?

2006 550i - Retired 1/8/ will be missed
