Dealer wants to re-program 2015 BMW X3 software

I am new this this site so forgive me for any obvious questions.. I have 22000 miles on my 2015 X3. I have been getting erroneous warning lights, such as drive train trouble, engine warning light. the dealer thinks they should re-program the software.
Is this common?
Anybody has had adverse results from this operation.
Will it reset all my present personal settings, etc?

I moved your question to the X3 forum, you will get more help in here. That doesn't sound normal but if the dealer is taking care of it under warranty I can't see a reason to be concerned yet.

Your personal profile settings can be exported to BMW online or USB drive, might consider doing in case you need to import settings that get lost with software updates.
