You cannot. Save your money and buy a car which is already fast.

Save your money and keep your car and drive it the way it was designed to be driven and you'll find that it is already fast. AND it has one of the best motors on the planet.

quite. i will counter it with:

yes. a 328i driven off a cliff will hit the bottom as fast as a 335i without spending any money.

serious response: if acceleration is your measure of fast, no, there is no way to make a 328i as fast as a 335i without spending a considerable amount of money, far more than the price difference between the two cars.

That's the spirit!
But you know what the OP really means by "fast"? He means faster than the Eclipses, VW GTI's, Hondas and Subarus of his world.

I know how you can make your 328 as fast as a 355i for around $150. Buy this:

and start cutting bits off until it's light enough to make up for the hp difference. It will likely look like this when done.

Fun but bizarre thread. The OP answered his own question in the second post while probably posting from a different device.

I can't adequately answer since I don't know how much money is in your tin.

It helps to know the current commodities market price for tin: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i...t+price+of+tin

Although I'm afraid the data referenced by WolframAlpha appears to be from 2007

To the OP: perhaps you should look into this: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=652836
It costs about as much as around 770lbs. of tin.

I like to research a problem a little before I try to answer a question like this, but here is all I found for a "tin of money":

So, OP: Do you have a "50" tin, or a "10" tin of money?

Buy the 335 like others said. Why do you want to tinker with a stock engine and mod it? Generally you will get more horse power/torque but at the expense of a shortened service life.
Bad idea!

I love my 328 just the way it is, if I want more power, i downshift a gear or 2 and listen in amazement how the car comes to life. With lowly speeds limits we can't even enjoy the stock cars we have, never mind mods....

But i guess if you like to do HPDEs, it's a different story but talk about the maintenance that requires, it's alot more than a TIN of money.

I have a 328 coupe and very happy with it. I don't need faster, but I'd I did I would get the 335, not much more than a 328 in cost. If I can afford it I would love the m3, now that's power, but also I different driving experience

Uh go to the redline? The NA 328i engine becomes as fast it will when you push it to 5000 rpm plus.

Otherwise, go get a fricking Mustang and enjoy the 0-60 times.

Your best bet is to put your money into a nice suspension upgrade, then you can drive fast on windy roads. Maybe figure out ways to lighten the car without it sawing off everything (really funny btw). I really don't get to enjoy the full power of the 335i very often because, well, there are too many cars on the road in Southern California.

Ok people, I think the OP meant "WITHOUT spending a tin of money." Trading the 328i in for a 335i would in fact be spending "a tin of money." Cheating on the wife would likely cost more than "a tin of money."

So let's start all over.

Drive with the windows open and create the feeling of speed. This would not cost a tin.
