i-Drive Anomaly
Hello Members:
My 2007 328xi coupe is nearing 90K. On two previous occasions, my i-Drive/Nav screen was very slow to launch. I sat there staring at the 'BMW' letters on the screen, no radio sounds, no menu, just 'BMW' on the screen. After what seemed like three or four minutes, all was well with the world. This morning, I had the experience for the third time. I thought that perhaps shutting down the car and restarting would help. Instead, the screen went completely black, nothing - I thought that was it. I was relieved when the screen, menu and radio came back - no problems since then. This only seems to happen when the weather is cold and I first start the car. Has anybody ever experienced this? Is my i-Drive/Nav system dying? Any feedback would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks |

3-4 minutes is a really really really long time - mine typically is a few seconds to get the radio to start playing, sometimes a few more seconds before you can use it. You should try the i-drive reset and see if it normalizes things - you hold down both eject buttons and push the volume know in at the same time.
