New to the BMW community and this forum
Wow, people don't really read stickied threads do they, nor do they understand the idea of the "new memeber introductions" section do they. Anywho
Hello, My name is levi, 28,married, 5 kids, operate heavy machinery for a living. I live in Oklahoma. This recent saturday I bought a 1992 325i, it has its issues, most of them small and cosmetic/unimportant to functionality of the car. It has: 177k miles 5 speed 4 door m3 body styling newer 18" bmw wheels half assed CAI stainless steel cat-back (unsure brand sounds good except muffler is rubbing on that heat shield) tinted windows tinted tails (coming off soon) The motor runs great, and this is by far the sexiest and fastest car that I have ever owned. It has some oil seepage around valve cover and oil pan gasket, but I have been parking it with carboard under it and nothing is leaking. The biggest issue that is bothering me right now is that after the car warms up, I smell coolant. The car does not smoke under any load or any starting conditions, the oil is clean, the floorboard is dry. So I do not know where to start looking for the solution to this issue. But the smell is so strong that I almost am sure that it is the heater core. I read somewhere that the worst thing about these cars is the cooling system so I am gradually going to be replacing everything. I am just trying to get input. Sorry I don't have any pics to post right now. |

Hello All
Back again. Long story short. About to come across a large enough amount of money that I can purchase another car. I have searched high and low for hours upon hours and have decided that I want some hands on time with boost and I stumbled across a find that 1) I never knew existed 2) I can't pass up As of right now, I should be going this weekend to pick up a 1992 Dodge Spirit R/T- 3owners- 75k original miles- All service records and documentation from day one- Car supposedly has no mechanical issues other than tach stopped working and in the middle of the summer the AC compressor went out. Was told that car uses/burns no oil, has no shaft play in turbo- also has brand new tires and a 3" magnaflow exhaust from turbo back. With that said, the reason that I am here is because I always like to have a backup plan. If there is more wrong with the car than what I have been told and I decide that I do not want it. Here is the next item on the list http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/cto/3264586311.html Just wondering some opinions on this one. I definitely would not pay more than 3K because that's all I have to spend. But I am thinking more along the lines of $2,500-$,2800 Lemme know |

FOr the 'minor items' and location. I'd not consider paying more than $2k. (At the most).

The car has a lot of things that have been upgraded or changed, however, I'm looking at the list of still needs...
Why did he remove the BMW rondel? thats strange... Coolant leak at back of head=head gasket ($1,500) Amount the items that has been changed, what hasn't been touched is the Coolant system, however, no real use doing any of that until you tacle the head gasket... (to do the HG, the coolant has to come out, the rad, hoses, ect). O2's are easy, but still cost you money, Hard to shift=new trans (or rather a good used one). This sounds like a syncro issue, and expensive to fix, however a good used one can be $500 or so. I'd pass on the car if you are looking for a DD that can be driven as is for a while. $2k seems ok if you are looking for a project. As for the dodge part as I can say

Thanks guys.
Jones I thought the same thing and I talked to him quite a bit. He isn't really wanting to go below $3k. And that's all the money I have to spend. Not gonna do it. Thefinanceguy- I was wodnering why someone would do that. And I also wondered about the coolant system. In the end, I have decided to purchase this http://tulsa.craigslist.org/cto/3251950738.html And I feel like I got a hell of a deal. I am going to head up there next saturday and trailer it back. I'll give you all a couple guesses what I am paying for it. |
