Do I need a new head gasket?
Do I need a new head gasket based on the pics?
I can't tell if this is coolant foaming or just oil wax build up?? When I un-screw the oil filler cap there are some water droplets but I was wondering if that may just be from condensation in the engine as the cap seams to seal pretty well. Model: 1998 M3 Engine: S52, 3.2L, 6 Cyl. Oil: Mobil 1 synthetic, 10W30 or 10W40 based on season Mileage: 102,000 |

You can't tell from just that.
That could be condensation from blowby. Happens in cold weather, especially with short runs that do not get the entire engine fully up to temp. See this a lot in aircraft engines.
