Noise during cold start and low coolant, leak?

I took a picture from underneath, it seems that something is leaking. There is no trace of leak on the ground though. Picture taken from the passenger door area. Is it a leak? If so what is the source?

I had a power steering pump leak before, could it be just the leftover fluid?

can someone help identify the leak?

What does the fluid look like? also are you sure the leak is exactly from there? not being redirected by plastics, etc? could be coolant, power steering, even Washer Fluid Pump (which is what mine ended up being- clear but a bit oily almost like coolant)

Yes the color of flued would help, is it dark brown or dark red or green/ blue coolint.

Cant tell the colour because it does not drop to the ground. I topped up the fluid this morning, only needed a little bit. The low coolant message wont disappear though, checked on the fluid again tonight, still the same amount as the last i topped up. What could have triggered the warning?

If u can wipe the bottom with a paper tow so that way u can c the color n does it smell like antifreeze.

Go get some wrapping paper from your local office supply store and spread it under the car's engine. Get a couple of bricks, tiles or some other type of heavy objects to keep the paper in place.

That would at least give you some idea of where the leak was coming from if it does drip.

When you mentioned noise, did you mean squeaky noise or grinding noise? The squeaky noise could potentially be the drive belts soaked in coolant. And that explains noise during cold start up. Alternatively, grinding noise could be a failing water pump. Anyway, this is what you need to do. Just like what Tarek said, the leaky coolant fluid may have been re-directed by the plastic engine protective cover located underneath the car.

To help us help you, take that protective cover off (green screws and two push/pull pins adjacent to the front end car lift point rubber support). Grab a couple of brake cleaners (from local parts store) and clean entire area that appears to have coolant residue. Also, inspect your belts to see if there is any traces of coolant on there. Cuz, if you have a failing water pump, there would be evidence of coolant around the belt area.

Depending on how gradual/ fast your leak is, you should be able to pinpoint exact leak origination point. Just clean that area off real good first.
