POLLL: Anyone here with a 2012 (or newer) ZOOM feature on BU Camera?

I just went through an extensive effort to have the rearview monitor on my 2012 X5d that is equipped with a FACTORY hitch and programming to have the ZOOM feature enabled only to learn that it is no longer possible... according to the local tech.

so how do I get the zoom feature? The links you provided talk about trailer hitches.

Anyways, I read your Fuelly records, how the heck do you get 27 mpgs consistently on a full tank? I can't believe it as you're using 214s. I read your notes, and my city MPGs are 19 and highway is around 24.

My "city" driving is stop and go all the time for 15 minutes. And my highway commute here is constant speed up/down, there's no constant speeds.

Just a few weeks back i had my 2012 x5d coded for the zoom feature as well as other things.
Okee from codemycar.com was able to code it.

It's closer to 26MPG (25.9MPG as I write this) but the fuelly reports may be a bit misleading as I typically only post after long trips (mostly snow skiing) and on those runs I can, and DO, get some pretty decent mileage as those can be 500+ miles and nearly 95% all highway. I have gotten as much as 32MPG on a trip back "down" the mountain (read as mostly idling without having to use fuel). I also own(ed) a Hybrid so do periodically use some of the Hyper-Mile-ing techniques now and then but the bottom line is that I simply don't "stomp" the fuel...ever when tracking mileage. That doesn't mean that I drive like a senior citizen either. You CAN press the gas pedal 30% and still get decent performance and fuel economy.

Even my "city" driving is 35-50MPH and mostly rolling. Almost ZERO stop & go around here. I also work (primarily) from home. I do have the 20-inch rims with the huge 315's on the rear but one thing I have done VERY differently is that I got rid of the fuel-inefficient run flats and replaced them with Continental DWSs

Correct - If you have a 2012 or newer, the zoom feature is (apparently) no longer available in the programming menu system (at least according to the techs at my dealership).

I can only assume that he must use something other than the OEM components to achieve that functionality or... my dealer is intentionally lying to me

I had BMW mount and code my OEM hitch. When the coding was done I didn't have the zoom feature. I found out that BMW will not code for zoom in the US.
I had OKEE code it for me and now I have the feature.

Do you know why they won't? What did just that coding cost you from OKEE?

You need to get into a sub menu to code this feature (the AHM module). Dealers do not code. They just update pre-scribed software, but never get into any sub-menus.

The fact that you had it before, implies to me that you bought your car used. The previous owner had the feature coded and it was wiped out during the N63 campaign.

Your options are:
- get in touch with the previous owner and ask where he had it coded
- contact Okee from codemycar.com
- learn to do it yourself

Simple.
