Front Bumper replacement

Hey guys,

I was wondering how much it costs to replace and install a new front bumper on a 535 2011? Would insurance cover something like that if I pay the deductable? (Geico?). I nocked it as I was exiting a friends garage.Would really appreciate any advice.

Jumping on this thread to ask a related question about bumper construction.

My ED bumper got a little crumpled while in Europe and this has been slowing down redelivery (not surprisingly).

The puzzling part is that the report I got from Special Services about a week ago was that it was being repaired and was about 1/2 done.

Report today was that the "bumper had arrived today and was being painted."

These two stories don't jive - how could they be 1/2 done a week ago when they didnt' even have the bumper until today?

Is the bumper and the cover all one unit, or is it possible to only replace the cover if the bumper itself is OK. I'm wondering if they first tried to replace the cover and then found the entire bumper needed to be replaced? Assuming the VDC knows what they're doing, is this going to leave any lasting traces or cause downstream problems?

That would most certainly be a "collision" claim which would most likely raise your insurance rates. I just recently scraped the bottom of my front bumper and have a friend that is going to fix it and also a scratch in the rear bumper for $300. I am very obsessed with keeping my car perfect and even though the scrapes are on the bottom of the front bumper you can't really see it but I know its there and it drives me crazy.

Depending on how much damage there is to the bumper you may just need to order a new bumper cover or get the damage fixed by a good body shop.

If they raise your rates for one minor (or even major for that matter) accident, you either have the wrong insurance company, or your past is catching up with you. One claim should not raise rates.

Having said that, I would personally pay out of pocket if it were not a lot more than my deductible. I view it like speeding tickets. I like to keep the first one off my record in case the next one is more serious.

In my case this is all covered by the BMW supplied ED insurance, so I'm mostly worried about downstream effects of the repair.

I have a front bumper non-M in good condition that you can buy. It is in Imperial blue. Make resonable offer as I have no clue how much it is worth.

Won't the bumper depend on whether the car has PDC?
