I think I'm Gona try the oem cross bars. Car will be here in 5 weeks. So I will advise how the noise is. I still have a few more weeks to change so more feedback of cross bars with the sun roof would be great.

I have the OEM and have not noticed any difference in the noise level either with or without. Not sure if it makes a difference in how far back you install them.

Did you mount them more aft or towards the front?

Hmm does this install affect the moon roof when it is tilted or opened at all?

Also regarding noise.. are you guys talking about the noise level being silent with the moon roof closed or opened or both?

Not an issue with opening at all.

My assessment is based on the moonroof closed.

Here is the picture of the moonroof with tilt. There is more than enough clearance. I guess that's the reason I went with the OEM, hoping that BMW will test it for most scenarios.

I went with the Thule 45058 and the Atlantis 1600. Not a great pic but you get the idea. I have only driven it around town but there was no noise to speak of.

Length of Thule Aeroblade for 2012 X5

Hello,
Thule website suggested 53" for the Aeroblade crossbar, i.e. ARB53. When I measure my 2012 x5, the distance between the rails are from 43" to 45". Have any of you tried the ARB47"? Will the 53" bar sticking out too much?

Thanks
Hean

You want it to stick out a little. It works great for us. We took a 3,000 mile trip and the system worked flawlessly.

can someone comfirm the proper bars for the M-sport 'low profile' rails ?

I have not seen any picture of roof rails with the M-sport so far, if anyone has any, I'd love to see them...

On my lexus the roof bar where totally hidden, these bmw bars are ugly as hell, why do they need to stick up so much ?
