FSU Replacent

Figured id make a short simple post to help others.

My ac and heat werent blowing air. All buttons lit and were working but as I adjusted fan speed, defrost, feet, etc nothing happened. Picked up an FSU for about 50 bucks and it worked.

First remove three screws holding dash piece on under steering wheel. (third one is above gas pedal) and remove piece and wiring to foot light

Then remove the torx 15 (1) screw and phillips (1) holding in the fsu which is tucked way in and above and to the right of the gas.

Replace the fsu and my air/heat began to blow air perfectly

Same problem here, I really hope its the FSU and not the blower motor itself.

Even if it is it shouldnt be too bad. The blower motor is only like 86 bucks on ebay and a day of easy work from whatI hear.

The FSU on the other hand is 46 bucks shipped (pain to replace) and id say 80% of the time the problem is here. If you replace it and it still doesnt work then just buy the blowor motor and go from there. The fsu's crap out anyway so youll save yourself time down the line. Also be ready to breakyour back getting to the fsu.

It is not located by the drivers knee as some say. It is literally tucked up near the toe area of your right foot. I had to move my seat back. Open my door. Stick half my body out and lay half in on my back with a flashlight in my mouth to get the torx screw out. Im 6'1 230 pounds but I was able to get it. I was only able to turn the wrench about 1/10th of a turn at a time. Dont try to remove the trim around the knee area/shifter or you will break it. The fsu is not in there

If youre claustrophobic good luck haha.

Also check your heater blower fuse. I dont know what number it is off the top of my head but under the hood near the windsheild on the drivers side contains the fuse box. Under the lid it should have a sticker with all the fuses and which numbers they correspond to. Also on the underside etched into the plastic is a diagram showing where that fuse number is. Example. 11-22 (or whatever it may be) So if you need fuse 15 find the 11-22 diagram. Start with fuse 11 and count along the row to the fourth fuse and there you have it.

If your blower fuse is busted then your fix may only cost a couple bucks.

Nice write up and photos on the FSU!

The FSU is like falling off a log blind folded compared to the blower motor. I'd gladly replace 50 FSUs as opposed just 1 blower motor.
Hope you never have to get the joy.....
