E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993.

e30 front aluminum bumper removal

Can someone provide me some assistance on how to remove the front aluminum bumper off a '88 325i? There doesn't seem to be enough space to get a tool in to undo the 4 nuts on the two shock absorbers. There are also two bolts, that are perpendicular to the bumper, facing the ground - looks like they come off with a large Allen wrench. Do they need to come off as well?

Thanks as always!!

first step is to soak the nuts with rust (insert favourite brand here) spray.

than you can either remove it with a ratchet at the bumper. two bolts per side, securing the bumper to the "shocks".

edit: i just realized you live in florida. enjoy the rust free removal.... grrrr

I have multiple cans at the ready! How do you get access to the nuts though? There's hardly any room at all to fit even a small ratchet.

Removing the bumper requires only removing the 2 large bolts that bolt onto the bumper shocks, then unclipping your lights. You then have full access to the bumper shocks.
