Thankful First Time Owner.. First Post
Just bought my first car.. 07 328i used. $17100 sticker, 58K Black. Pretty sure it was a great deal and I really enjoy all the modifications. The AC Schnitzer rear spoiler, LED's and M6 wheels give it a very aggressive look. Attached a few pics.
I don't know a whole lot about cars (maintenance, upkeep, mods) so I am happy to have found this forum as I have already gotten some great advice by just reading through threads. I believe I found a great independent BMW tech in my area and am still considering a warranty too. This car appears to be in great shape so I may just put some money aside and roll the dice. I have a rear reverse light out.. should I bring these types of small issues/maintenance (ie oil changes) to BMW specialists, or can routine work be done by any shop?

Congrats! Man, what a very nice car for your first one, well done. It looks pretty sharp.
For the small issues, how about none of the above, and do it yourself here. This one is super duper easy. This is coming from a DIY retard, btw. A flathead screwdriver and/or pliers I guess would probably work just fine for removing the clips holding any of your trunk liner partitions in, but I might advise a trim removal tool set for like $5. Might come in handy more often than you think, and it's not so expensive. I think I ordered my replacement (outer) light socket from Tischer. The outer one is just stupid easy; it's completely tool-less at least on the right. All I do is squeeze the tab with my finger, and the whole light assembly comes right out. Yep- how much do you want to pay a mechanic to squeeze his forefinger/thumb? (rhetorical, and your particular one is a bit more work anyway.) So the inner ones are a little more work. Congrats. Welcome to the 'fest and to the dark side. That car looks really good. Well modified.
You can replace that light yourself very easily. Look in the owners manual and there are instructions. You have to take the inner trim loose on the trunk lid. The are all kinds of DIYs here that can grip you with just about anything you need.

thx so much for the DIY information and links.. looks like I should be able to replace the reverse light on my own. guess I will just take it case by case.
I appreciate all the kind words. it has been a constant battle keeping the car looking like new with all the pollen in the FL air right now! happy to have found the boards!

The amount of information here on Bimmerfest is staggering. Combine this with a manual and a few other good on line boards, and you'll be all set if you want to get in there under the hood. The more you do yourself, the more you'll enjoy your car.
