m5 shifting shifting very hard
Hi everyone,
I’m new to this forum. Side story: my dad passed away last year and left his beloved 2006 M5 to me. Originally I wasn’t planning to keep the car, I was afraid the financial upkeep would be difficult. But just knowing he loved this car and it does look pretty sweet, I decided to keep it. I’ve had the car for about 6 months now, it has 66k miles, and I know he took care of this car, taking it into the dealership for its needed upkeep. There is no warranty on this car. Yesterday I took it out to do a quick grocery run and noticed immediately that something was definitely off. First, there was a symbol that popped on up the dashboard. A red gear light with an exclamation point; that disappeared before I even really took notice. Every gear shifts extremely hard, when I am coming to a stop it throws me back and forth while it downshifts. First gear as I start to accelerate feels like it’s extremely jittery before it smooths out. The sound is clunky and just does not seem right at all. There are no check engine lights on, I also checked the iDrive as well and nothing came up. I did a forum search and tried the reset as someone suggested in another thread. Before I decide to take it in to the shop and throw down some hard cash , any suggestions, tips, advice? Thanks! Mary |
