Sacrificed my shoes

No this is not another Goodyear tread.

My girlfriend and I went out for dinner this evening. I had parallel parked next to some grass. After opening the door and letting her in, I had to step over some grass to get to the drivers door, and since it was dark, I stepped in some dog litter.

As I bent to look at the bottom of my shoe, I was overcome by a terrible stench. There is no way I can allow even trace amounts of that filthy smell inside my new car which at 3500miles still smells new.

So I did the honorable thing, tossed the shoes and drove home barefoot. Interestingly my girlfriend says I drive more smoothly barefoot.

Have to go shopping tomorrow.

I would've done the same thing, depending on the shoes.

Hmm, my car has 18,000 miles and Mrs Dunderhi says it's starting to smell like the gym. During the Winter I wear about a grand worth of cycling clothing, so I'm not throwing it out after each ride.

Sorry to hear that, but it may be a tough call if it's a nice pair of loafers, which is why I keep some bags in the truck.

I do, too. Loafers are easy to clean in most cases. Last time I stepped in dog doo was wearing sneakers. Getting it out of the treads was a pain. Had to use a toilet brush.

I would've done the same thing and tossed the shoes too even thought most of my shoes are worth more than half of the car monthly payment.

Daddy's rule: no food, no drink, and smelly stuff in the car... I have a big cooler in the car all the time just for them. The smelly shoes would've fit in well in that cooler

Damn! I can understand though. Hope I'm never placed in that position...most of my shoes cost more than I care to admit.

Plus when you go to the shoe shop, you end up buying more. I bought 2 pairs of Johnston and Murphy's today.

I think Stealth is worried that his GF's nails would scratch the door handle wells

This is totally unacceptable.
It is clear that BMW is the first responsible for this.
Imagine your predicament if this had happened before you entered the restaurant!
BMW has to offer the DSA system right away!
Any longer delay of the systems availabillity is not tollerable.
Of course It must be possible to be retrofitted.
I think these systems can be priced for an amount of 5 pairs of shoes, so around $1000.
After reading this thread, I will directly take a DSA on my car when they finally become available.
