Question what is this?

hey guys,
today as i was replacing my fog lights, i saw this lil thing dangling in the air vent. this might be a noob question, but what is it?


poiting at it (on right side)

and from behind the fog light


does it have to do with the intake?
again, sorry if its a noob question

Pictures aren't showing, but I'll take a stab and say it's your external temperature sensor.

I'll second that, but it shouldn't be hanging, it has a place where it snaps in.

Better for some of us if you attach to the post, so bimmerfest hosts them. Some firewalls explicitly block flickr, so no pics for me. It's probably your external air temp sensor. It snaps into your passenger side (I think) brake duct.
