What is a fair price for the new 2011 528i?
A local dealer ship has one remaining brand new 2011 528i with sport, premium, navi, heated seats. MSRP is $53,045. I haven't seen the car yet but it looks it doesn't have zenon lights. What price should I try to get it for? I'm thinking to try 46K. Is it too low?
Tahnks in advance. |

I just got a new 2011 535xi (MSRP $72.4k) for $62.5k, and got a stellar deal on my trade. I don't think your offer is a lowball one or anything.

I agree $46k is not a lowball offer for the car. You might start off with an even lower offer ~$43k and see if they will bargain. It new, but its a model year old, so depreciation will really bite when you drive it off the lot. And, its costing the dealer $$ to keep a year old, unsold car in their inventory.

Thanks for the feedback. Visited the dealer today. They started with $46,800 and went down to $45,800 when I asked for 44k. The trade in offer for my 2007 335 coupe with 48kmi wasn't very good either - 19.5K. After the trade the total is $28.7K. They added around $300 for nitrogen, wheel locks and tank of gas which is unheard of. I counteroffered 26k but they didn't budge. Will see if they call me back tomorrow.

Tell them to keep the nitrogen, wheel locks and gas at $300. Wheel locks are worth about $50, tank of gas $60, nitrogen worth ????. I think costco gives it free.

Thank you for the recommendation. The dealer came down by another 1k but I just found out that the car doesn't have xenons. Most likely I'm going to pass the deal - I've had xenons for a while on my cars and I don't want to get a 50k car without them

Agree, Xenons are awesome and IMO a must on a premium car. You would miss them.
