335d: Evolve Vs. Renntech tune?

I am a new 335d owner and heavily weighing the options of an Evolve vs. Renntech ECU tune.

One last important issue in the decision; if I sell the car, or need to revert the ECU back to factory programming, will VS motorsports and Evolve be around over the next few years to do this for me? If Evolve pulls out of the US or VS motorsports goes out of business or drops the Evolve tune, who in the world would be able to revert my ECU back to stock, or even update it for that matter?

Renntech has been around for quite a while here in the US, I get the impression they do not carry such risks, but I could be wrong.

I have no affiliation with any automotive industry whatsoever other than being a BMW owner.

I think the dealer could put it back because seems people warn that if you do an ECU tune and the dealer ever needs to flash the computer then you have to send the ECU back to the tuner.

Hmm, is this true? If so, sounds good, however I've also heard if they find a tune it could void warranty?

Warranty and tunes people can go around in circles on. A tune just being in the ECU technically is not grounds to void a warranty. Go into the dealer with a blown up engine, rear end, or transmission and they find a tune then strong chances are they are going to say your tune is the cause of the damage and warranty will not cover that. Of course some will argue that legally they have to prove your tune was the cause of those damages to not warranty it, personally I'd rather not face the issue to find out the outcome. But regardless of it all, I have seen multiple postings that say if you get an ECU flash tune and for some reason your ECU has to be re-flashed by the dealer then your tune is gone and you have to send the ECU back to the tuner to get redone.

It seems that the software on the ECU is tied to the car itself. Meaning I do not think you can swap ECUs from one car to another. If this is the case then are you even 100% sure Renntech or Evolve or whomever can or will remove their tunes from the ECUs? I'd think it would come at a price since it might very well mean something beyond simply re-flashing the thing but more manually removing the variables for the tune.
