For the last two years Marsha and I have made it a 2 day event. We had very nice day yesterday. More spectacular weather. We left the Hotel at 10 this morning and are heading down route 91.

So basically just the parts with me in it?

BTW, Jen kidnapped Furby. It's in her house.

It was certainly giving off some "interesting" burning smells. Coolant temperature went from 190 at the bottom to +/- 225 at summit.

You crazy? I recorded everything. The highest bidder gets their name and voices removed from the audio recording. The rest gets sent to the state troopers. Also, I remember hearing some Canadian Mountie cracks....gonna cc them on that.

So, the auction for anonymity begins!

Hey, wait a minute, I resemble that remark! But never sold me otherwise.

It was a great trip and I agree with Jen (Furby's friend) that i could use a day off afterwards as well.

We had a great time. Lq i didn't know you had that cam, nice stuff. I was asking Dianne to take pics out the window, but she was sort of 'frozen', looking straight ahead.
I had to endure screaming and Mrs. Bemo leaning all the way towards me with her eyes closed, while climbing...

The dialogue in the car went something like this:

Bemo: Shut up, I'm trying to focus on getting us up there, alive. Not even sure how the f&*^ we'll make it down but let's focus on 1 thing at a time.
Mrs. Bemo: Get me off this fricking mountain, what a mistake to come with you. More screams.
Bemo: Stop screaming or I'll make a mistake and drive off the mountain
Mrs. Bemo: More screaming......

You could have saved yourself a lot of screaming if you would have just clubbed her with a baby seal.

With mine, I just gave her a toy (camera) and that kept her occupied. You have no idea how many photos of my moon roof she took. I also had to explain to her that if she was going to stick her head out the window, while holding my camera, that I would appreciate it if she looped the camera strap around her neck.

Dialogue in our car was on the order of:

(On the climb up)

TKat: Umm, could you please move left a bit.
Me: But I'm on my side of the road. If I move left I'll be over the yellow line.
TKat: It's OKAY if you are over the yellow line; nobody is coming from the other direction.
Me: Okay, fine my left wheels are just over the yellow line.
TKat: Great, now do me a favor and STRADDLE THE YELLOW LINE!!

I was asked on the way home on Sunday

"How come I don't have any badges on the back of my car like the others?"

Fortunately, I had 4 hours to explain between Franconia and SE CT, which was just about enough.

Anyway, thanks for your company on Saturday. Special thanks to those who accommodated us at dinner with our late arrival and moved around to let us get seated. Our excuse is like many good things in life, Bear Notch Road can be enjoyed as much on your own as it can be in a group ()

Was much easier for me - I just kept talking to myself, i.e.
Coming up on that VW Bus I proclaimed: "oooh nice"
Followed by: "Did I just miss a turn?"

And while all this is going on, I was practicing detecting the irregularities at the RIGHT edge of the road by feel through the suspension, so I wouldn't stray too far when making room for downbound traffic.

Kat, I can understand why a Colorado gal wouldn't be fazed by MWAR but I have no idea where I picked this up. Either I'm not quite right in the head or it's just easier without a screaming co-pilot. Or both.

Last year the poor visibility made the climb (my first) a real white knuckler and the road seem 2 inches wide.

This year was a breeze.

Thanks Captainaudio!

Included in the bag o' swag was a nifty CtoC4 sticker! I couldn't wait to add it to the stickers from previous CtoC's. Anyone else?

When DSX says 20 minutes, he means it. I waited in the parking lot the entire time so as to not miss the driver's meeting.

Not sure if that was the penultimate driver's meeting though. I think we penultimated in the MWAR parking lot.

Or not.

Who knows. So many meetings, so little time.

I guess so, NJ Ray and the Bemobile made the most of it though...we saw the same column of 'vettes as you did and 112, for me personally, was the more thrilling/picturesque road. We were only 15 minutes late for dinner

Here are a few more.
An out of state pedestrian ogles a sharp BMW exiting the bridge. I know he's from out of state. No one up here dresses like that (since BoltjaM3s moved to NJ).
Check out the chick walking hand in hand with her bf, checking out another flashy Bimmer.
Bagbklyn and his SO enjoying another CtoC with actual scenery and views this time.
A group waiting for the "Go!" signal at the base of the MWAR. Note the unnamed 'Fester on the left taking a picture of me. With the lens cap still in place.

Fail. You have driven it so you're now entitled to call it "the Kanc" if you forget how to spell (or pronounce!) "Kancamagus Highway."
