A caravan is a fine idea....and if anyone wants to put together some event down this direction, let me know. We have windy roads and thoroughbred farms and bourbon distilleries

Not that we needed more convincing, but remember, we want to make it out of KY as quickly as possible, not get stuck there.

And we're taking more photos and more video each year... that'll make the highlight reel.

Did anyone else overhear the guy at the base parking lot's sarcastically toned comment that "they are BMWs, they get to park any way they want to."?

Twice in one day?! Someone cracked the same line as we were leaving the Jackson covered bridge, after we'd pulled over every which-way to keep the road clear!

I wonder what these wags have to say when 500 Minis try to cram themselves into spaces meant for 100 full-grown cars. Perhaps "Awwwwwwwwwwww, they're so cuuuuuuuuute!!"

I thought he said "They are BMW drivers, they probably don't know how to park".

When we park on the fly and then make others cry, that's logistics.

Uncalled for! I supposed they'll all be impressed when the "Lexus" crowd comes up there next year and demonstrate their "self-auto parking - hands off" computer parking in unison? Contests for "hands off" parking in the tightest space? Who will be the winner of the "least road feel" contest...most "noise isolated" cabin? Of course, WE can park without such unnecessary 'handicap' aids. The Ultimate Driving Machine...still requiring HUMAN input.

Funny thing though, THIS is what the comment was in reference to:

I guess the guy didn't like that we were parked in the driveway.

Heading south on 93, exiting Franconia Notch at 6:32 a.m. This is what the road looked like for the next 80 miles. Gotta love NH on a June Sunday morning. A fitting end.

That is a beautiful sight.

DSX - Please explain to me how you folks deal with the 4 AM sunrises? I could not believe that at 4:15 am the sun was blasting through the black out draperies on the windows in our hotel room in Tilton. It was a good thing I was all hyper about the drive and didn't mind getting up; but OMG, I'm not used to being awake that early in the morning.

We like the 4 a.m. sunrises! It makes it easier to find your way to the outhouse!

Looks perfectly FINE to me. I FAIL to see the problem...the parking "dude" was probably from Boston, Massachusetts. They tend to be...you know what.

Funny what heading 10 degrees further north towards the arctic circle will do in the summer. In the winter, it goes the other way. Our December days are much shorter than Texas'.

Same thing happened to us on a summer trip to France a few years. Sunrise before 6, sunset after 10, and looong twilight times as well. We were looking forward to some dark-sky viewing when we had reservations at a hotel well away from the cities, but the damn night sky never really got dark!
