Did you name your car?

Here's an interesting poll question - did you name your BMW?

It never occured to me to "name" my 2008 550i when I first got it. It was just "the BMW," or "the Bimmer." However, once my wife took delivery of her 2011 535xi, that nomenclature wasn't going to work anymore. My wife, being a German speaker, decided on the spot that her car would be referred to as "Mitsy," a solid German name for her car. That prompted me to come up with a suitably masculine German name for mine. "Heinrich" immediately came to mind, and both names have stuck.

If you named yours, what did you come up with?

Naming cars is gay so I picked the choice closest to that.

No, but I named my first car while in college and on tight budget. It was a big white Buick and the license plate read "The Hog" in my native language. Only Scandinavians got it.

Well, technically, my car came with its name already attached. My car is "the blue car", my wife's car is the green one. Of all the cars I ever owned prior to this one, my favorite was "the red car"....

The car is technically my wife's.
We bought the car used and the prior owner was named Alice.
So the car (rarely referred) is named Alice, but the girl in the nav is also Alice which we reference more often.

Other than that it is know as the FUNFER.

Didnt name the car, but we did name the Nav lady. Gives me someone to yell at when she leads we to a vacant lot when I am supposed to be at a restaurant.

A two year old kid should name a car, cause everything they do is cute and stupid at the same time. Christine and Eleanor are very, very rare exceptions.

Be careful calling her "the newness"... when she gets old, she'll resent you calling her an "old bag" :-P

My car doesn't have a name, but after every single time I get out of my car, I touch the BMW emblem on the hood with my index and my middle finger and say thank you. Is that weird? LOL

Had a '73 Chrysler New Yorker in college for a month until it caught fire. It was apprproately named "The Beast". Have not named a car since. All the women I know do name their cars, however. My nav lady is Sue named after someone I know who is very calm and literal.

Of course I named her. I named her stella although my husband laughs about it. But then again he drives a truck and I never let 'em drive Stella.

It's "theBMMW". Hers is "theOdyssey". Given a choice, she would rather never want to drive "theBMW".

Previous 525i was Chelsea.

The current one is Ashley. Despite this one coming with the man voice command. I try to ignore that. Lol.

Unless it can acknowledge you or communicate with you directly, then it's okay to give it a name.

Based on my questionable and unsolvable experiences, for the heck of it, I think I will name mine either Ms. VIB or Ms. Fire today.
