Android/iPhone Backup Camera

I recently made the decision to try to install a wifi enabled backup camera on my 2002 745i. I received the kit and have benched tested it with a 9volt battery - works like a charm displaying a decent image on my Android phone.

So....

I don't like the camera itself (it's one of those "bolt to your license plate" cameras). Consequently I am looking for a camera that will fit into one of the lights over the rear license plate. I have scanned the forums and came up with a few links for cameras that will supposedly fit perfectly. Unfortunately those links are old and either no longer work or the site no longer stocks the camera. Bummer.

So....
Does any one know where I may find a backup camera for a 2002 745i that will fit in the rear license plate blub spot. What would be really sweet is that it would also have the license plate blub so we can keep the staties from pulling me over late at night. Would something from the 5 series work?

Here's the plan:
1. Install an OEM camera.
2. Connect the camera to the supplied wifi transmitter (assuming the camera has the yellow lead and a power lead).
3. Wire wifi transmitter (which also supplies power to the camera) to the DVD for the Navigation as this seems to come on when unlocking the car and seems to always be on when the car is running. Why you ask is this important? Well that wifi module has to be able to connect to your phone and it takes time for it to boot up and accept your connection. If I set it up to be on when I get in the car the backup camera and wifi unit will be ready to go as soon as I bring it up on my phone. No waiting 5-10 seconds to get the connection if I wire it to the reverse lights
4. Fix the wiring because I am clueless as to how to do it. Any help here is appreciated.
5. ah, done, I think

As to you purists out there. I tried to get this to work on the MMI but the cost, the programming, and the complexity eventually turned me off to trying to get this to work. The wifi to the phone seems much easier (with the exception of finding the right camera).

I'll post the process and results once I find the right camera.

Thanks for your thoughts on this.
