Hmm, I see. So when you unlock the doors by remote, the LEDs light up so you can more easily locate the handles?

That seems a little pointless, though. If the interior lights come on when you unlock, you can easily see the handle, no matter how dark it is.

BTW, they said the 120d will do 0-60 in 7.9. So that is the weapon of choice for people not wanting to get embarassed by a Scion...hahaha... (umm...if they have that in Europe...)

My parents' Mitsu Diamantes (they have 2) have lit door keyholes. Pull on the (locked) handles, and they light up so you can put the key in (no remote).

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's a little redundant if you have a remote and the interior lighting. I don't mind, but just saying...

The Top Gear preview is terribly unfair.
It says that the car does 0-60 in 11 seconds, but that's for the bottom of the range 1er.
When someone rates an E-Class Mercedes, do they judge the entire range by the performance of the E200? NO! Stupid limies.

And the 1 series is a beautiful car, definately not ugly!

Indeed - and I didn't hear them quoting the 0-62 mph times of the 116i's rivals. 13 sec, 12, sec, 15 sec, 14 sec...

Clarkson can certainly be classified as being a daft Pom - he has long disliked BMWs and their drivers. Well, unless BMW has lent him a car for the week, in which case they're the best thing since sliced bread. You can bet he will evangelise on the 120d when he realises how quick (and so free!) it is.

That's very good; FWD probably isn't an issue at these power levels, given the fat tyres which appear as standard these days. 0-62.5 mph (0-100 km/h) in 7.9 sec is the equivalent of 7.5-7.6 sec to 60 mph. Would the arguable 0.2-0.3 sec difference be worth giving away 251 lb-ft, monster in-gear poke and 15 mpg?

Interesting that the Mazda3 tested has a 2.3 litre engine. The biggest engine available in 1-series territory has a 2 litre, and has only adequate performance.
