Are you on other BMW forums?
Do you have a thread open for e90 users?

Mein Auto: 525i
I just purchased an 2003 525i and I am seriously considering installing this unit. I love the OEM look of the unit. The pixels on the MID are out and I am thinking that I might as well take the money that I would put towards that repair towards purchasing this unit. I do have a few questions.

1. My e39 is prewired for phone...will this system work with wiring?
2. My understanding is that the preloaded software is iGO...What version is on the device? If it is iGO8, how difficult is it to upgrade to iGO primo and what is that process? I have watched quite a few youtube viedos displaying functionality of the system, but not many showing functionality of the navigation software, are there any problems with navigation software (is it delayed or slow)?
3. I have tried to scour the internet for information, and I mostly get screen shots so that leads me to a few question...with the PDC, does the screen actually show which PDC is activated? Also, I have seen some instrustions for installation and I am confidnet that I can do it myself...but earlier conversations raise concern about the PDC continually going off, what causes this and how do you avoid it?
4. I have read that when the D99 is installed the plug and play into the OBC will eliminate the OBC feature on the Instument Cluster, is this true? and if so what exactly is eliminated?
5. I have seen screen captures with the BMW logo on the screen is this installed or does it have to be downloaded into the system and if so how difficult is this process?
6. My understand is that this unit can be installed with a back up camera, how difficult is this installation? Does it require running wiring to the front of the car?
7. What is the waranty?

I hate to ask questions that might seem dumb, but I just hate to spend the money with out getting a thorough grasp of what I am getting.

Thank you for any response you can offer...

The unit comes with free iGo primo. You can change map software to garmin or tomtom...etc

You can turn the PDC on and off through the settings issue.

4. I have read that when the D99 is installed the plug and play into the OBC will eliminate the OBC feature on the Instument Cluster, is this true? and if so what exactly is eliminated?

Not sure if you loose any OBC features...let me check up on this

5. I have seen screen captures with the BMW logo on the screen is this installed or does it have to be downloaded into the system and if so how difficult is this process?

It comes with the BMW logo screen loaded when you enter navigation. However, as for the start up logo it reads DYNAVIN. You can change this in the factory settings.

6. My understand is that this unit can be installed with a back up camera, how difficult is this installation? Does it require running wiring to the front of the car?

Yes, you will run wire from front of car to back. You will need a ground and power in the back of the camera.

7. What is the warranty?

One year factory warranty.

If you would like the back up camera it is an additional $20. However, we are out of stock on the BMW camera...you would need to wait or we have a universal camera.

Ottonavi, Thanks for getting back to me. Gonna look at the repair budget and see if I can squeeze it in now or have to wait a couple weeks. What is the best way to order?

Question Navigation Option for DSP?

Do you plan to offer a DSP compatible navigation unit? If not, does anyone know what alternatives are out to upgrade with navigation?

I have just acquired a '01 BMW 540i 6speed and have the dead pixel issues...

Hmm... if you have DSP, you can install this unit it just wont be plug and play. What you will need is an aftermarket amp. You run the speaker wires to the amp and connect the amp to the radio via RCA' connections.

D99 with IGO PRIMO 2.0

Just want to let everyone who uses the D99 version out there know about an update/mod I just performed. Ever since I purchased the unit I have been generally very happy with its functions and its performance. The only thing that really bugged me about the unit was the performance of the actual NAVI software that came with it. I noticed it was kind of slow and it did not really offer some of the latest options/toys of the latest Navi units out there. (GARMIN, TOMTOM, etc)

Well after looking at different forums and reading many pages of information I was able to download a fully working version of the IGO PRIMO 2 software. Everything has been modded/tweaked for ease of use and installation in the D99 unit. Wow, what a difference! The software was so easy to install and runs so smoothly.

Some major ++++++ that I have noticed!

More precise NAVI location and directions
On screen POI's, for example;
Banks, Gov't buildings, Hospitals, Public Parking, gas stations, etc.... (all options that user can pick)
current speed and limits in MPH (instead of KPH with Sygic)
my favorite; speed cameras and red light camera locations (updateable)
street address as you drive on the sub screen
help menu (for finding nearby shops, etc..)
customized menus with different themes

many many more things that I probably have not even had a chance to check out yet

Took a little video of what it looks like for those that are interested. I would definitely recommend this upgrade!

Not sure how to post a video but here is a link;

http://s1110.photobucket.com/albums/...t=38286b86.mp4

Hope that this helps those that are bored with their NAVI as I was.
