04i 545 or 06 550i??

Im on the fence on these 2
The 04 has smg and 83k white/ biege for 17k
The 06 has 95k black w/ biege for 18.9k
Both with sports pkg and nav


What would u get?

550 all the way. Its newer year, more power, 12k miles is no big difference on this cars and 2k is def worth it.. + try haggle.

No way in hell I would touch that 545i. Between the SMG and the 4.4L V8 that thing will never leave the shop.

I've HEARD people say the 550i engine is much more reliable. Personally I drive a 2007 550i and I LOVE IT! I went CPO from Niello BMW and got a great deal because they wanted to move the car that day. I've never had serious issues with either the SMG or the engine. The biggest issue I had was replacing the water pump @ 95K, which seems to be a common issue, when I looked into it. Don't go 15K in between oil changes, go 8-10K depending on how hard you drive it. The engine is expensive to fix, and some preventative TLC goes a long way, I want mine to last past 200K. Go with the 550i all the way, better engine and upgraded interior, the 2007 550i has upgraded interior and the CPU is from the X5 and it looks cleaner and nicer than previous years, closer to what a 7 series looks like inside. You will feel the power difference and it's worth the extra cost. When the tire tread wears down, replace with Conti DWS or Michelin Pilot Super Sports or Bridgestone 970AS. Have fun!
