List of US 2010 E61 6-speeds

I've been thinking about buying a used '10 E61 manual as my next car, so I compiled the list of VINs sold in that model year in the U.S., with options, notes I collected by spending some quality time on Google, and even Autocheck results for a few. Since then, I decided to go for a new F31 instead (physical size and TCO considerations), but I don't want my work go to waste. Please PM if you're interested. Also, I know that some current owners are here on this forum. If you have any privacy concerns, please let me know, and I'll remove your cars from the list.

Can you let us know how many there were in total? I have been told that my '07 e61 6MT/Sport is one of less than 300, but don't know if that is real, if it is just the 61's with both stick and sport, or what. Do know the wagons with sticks are pretty few and hard to find when you want one.

You'll have to pass along your impressions of the f31, since the rest of us with e61's will probably have to go to those for the next wagon.

This is actually a pretty easy question to answer.

First, E61 LCI, since that's what I looked at: the VINs go from CW98001 to CW98327. 327 less about 10% for Canadian cars, less a few funky examples with stuff like "SONDERKONTROLLE PRESSEWAGEN" in their option lists, and we end up with about 290 examples.

The original E61's VINs go from B799000 to B799334. Same math results in around 300 examples.

So, I guess the number you were given was right - as long as it referred specifically to 530xit and not all E61s sold in the U.S.

Thanks for the info. If the original E61's VINs go from B799000 to B799334, does that mean that this is the total of all 530XiT's regardless of transmission? Or just with manual's? I would expect the manuals to have VIN's that are scattered through the range, unless they are kept as a separate group based on one of the first digits like the 7 or 9's? If this is the total of all 530XiT's with manuals, it is still two model years, so even less than I had thought (ie: not 300 in just 2007).

If the E61's are the same as the E60 550's, then the manual trans cars have a unique VIN sequence. For 2008, the VIN started with a 3, whereas cars with an automatic transmission started with another number (believe it was a 5). I used this to determine whether a car listed for sale really was a manual trans, or had the SAT, and the dealer was only advertising it as a manual (happened more often than not). Can't say if the same is true for other years or E60 models.

I'd be very curious to know how many manual trans 550's are out there by year. How difficult would that analysis be?

The ranges I listed are specific to the manual cars. For automatics, E61 pre-LCI goes from CN00000 to CN05106, E61 LCI goes from CX00000 to CX02999 and C237000 to C238114. So, total of 9222 cars with auto made for US and Canadian markets.

This is new info to me -- I thought only the 2008 E61 535xiT was available with a 6 speed manual. I did not think the '07 530xiT was, nor did I think they were offered in 2009 and later years. Did they offer them all years?

I have a 08 550i manual, does this mean '08: CT34000 (2006-05-29*) - CT34580 (2008-07-29) there are only 580 manuals produced for 2008?

Up to and including B799012 they were test or press cars, leaves us with 175 imported for both US and Canada (Canada volume was about 10% of the total).

that's very interesting.

i own cw98239, manual 2010 XIT w/ full M package, cold weather, etc. Its under warranty and considering trading it in for another BMW (needs have changed). This is a relatively small market segment and dealer is offering a reasonably good trade in value (car under warranty and CPOable). My question is: is there a market segment that would be interested in this car in the US?

I have an '07 530Xit 6MT with sport pack, seats, etc. and 55k miles. I often get asked if I would consider taking a name to call when I get ready to sell, and have a small collection of business cards from members at BMWCCA events, etc. It's not a big market segment, but if you want a stick sporting wagon, there is really no other competitor. check some of the BMW chat groups in their classified/wanted sections. There is often an ad by somebody looking for just what you have. i think the right buyer will offer a premium for a really good example, while most dealers will downgrade it as a trade due to the limited market for them both because it is a wagon that most US buyers don't want, and it is a stick that most US buyers cannot drive.

This is a relatively small market segment and dealer is offering a reasonably good trade in value (car under warranty and CPOable). My question is: is there a market segment that would be interested in this car in the US?
Not sure about the market, but I am on the market for an E61 with 6-speed. Have you sold yours? Is anybody else ready to offer theirs?

I jsut picked one of these up, '07 530xiT 6MT M-sport (carbon) - and yes, it is on the list. I knew it was a BIT odd, but had no idea how uncommon. Great to hear that they have a following. I was after a new X standard trans, and dislike turbos, so I lucked out! It has 44K on the clock, so this thing is still basically brand new! Love it so far!
