Huuuuuge project!!!
alright guys,
I found an 01 530i with 110k miles, perfect body, engine, and interior... MINUS the dash board and all wiring and units associated with the dash board. The dashboard caught fire due to the infamous LCM unit getting wet from a windshield leak or sunroof drainage leak. My question isn't regarding putting the dash back together, but rather the wiring behind the dash board. I'm assuming wires run from the DME in the engine to the LCM, and then from the LCM to the cluster, radio, etc.. but my question is where can I find those wires? junkyards, go pull em from an e39? This is gonna be a fun project anyone ever tackle anything similar?

I'm new to BMWs so im not sure if the wiring harness will be the same as ur model. I have a '99 540i. I pulled the entire octopus of wires that ran front to back minus the engine wire harness. Thats still attached. Here's Some pics;
