I got the notice yesterday as well, but it was for my 2007 530i that got totaled a little over a month ago, haven't received one for my 2009 535i.
had the recall repair done today, and was an hour to complete. i have nothing terribly bad to say about bmw of rockville, nor can i comment in a stellar manner either. i've used them only because they are close to work related. they handled everything today professionally and efficiently, but if anyone is looking for a "warm & fuzzy" feeling from them then you probably need to visit another dealer. they have streamlined the service appts. or dropoffs (now) and do not have the assigned teams as before...the only downside to that is you will not know who your SA will be if that matters to you. my car is out of warranty, so any work to be done will be by indy shop or myself. did throw some money their way though as i bought oil and a filter for the next change. hope this helps...

my recall is being done now before I pick it up - it's been in the dealer for 9 days for a bug I found - but at least they're getting the recall done before I get it back.

Oh yeah, now I remember why I paid no attention to that. Nice to run a little camp fire in the trunk, keeps the moisture out.
I don't have any nitrous oxide bottles back there or anything, just a lot of carpet and a spare tire.

I heard about this recall on the news (Internet) back in March but I still have not received any letter from BMW notifying me about the recall. Have they already sent out all notifications to all owners? I feel left out

Didn't receive my letter either. I don't think BMW sent the notices all at once.

The fuel pump recall messages were sent out in waves due to the volume, so given the large number of cars in this recall, BMW may be doing the same staggering of notices.

OK, went in yesterday and they took care of the recall. Just go to a dealership and set up an appointment, takes 20 minutes to fix the battery wire. No biggie.

Call your SA and give him your VIN. He can look it up on the computer and tell you immediately if your car is affected by the recall. It takes about 2 minutes to find out.

also, you can register yourself online as the owner with BMWNA if you are not the original owner...or you can telephone. it seems that the notices are being "batched" geographically, and maybe from east to west from all i've read. i received my notice along with many other owners in the DC Region on the same or next day about a week ago. my recall repair was completed this week.

Besides replacing cable or bolt... don't they have to re register the battery since they have to disconnect it? If so what I'm trying to get at is why not replace the battery urself and get it registered for free when they do the recall work.. lol

i received a follow-up email from the dealer concerning the recall repair, and was asked to reply email or call. my question is to those who have had the repair, did you receive any paperwork indicating the recal repair was completed?

Just called BMW of Arlington Va and made my recall appt for 9:00 on Monday. I did ask if they had to re-register the battery to fix the cable and as such would they register a new battery. According to "Beaver", they do not have to re-register the battery to fix the cable. As such, it would cost $140 to register a new battery.

Dam that sucks. It was my understanding that anytime the battery was disconnected or drained that the stealership would have to reregister the battery or it wouldn't charge the battery right. I was just go a replace and never tell them. Lol

Just had my recall fixed - and a new battery installed due to age. Oh well - got 6.5 years out of the factory battery!

Unfortunately, error codes showed I will probably have to replace my thermostat later this year. Also, one of my rear ball joints is getting some play. It will not pass NH State Inspection. Another $900 to fix the 2 items!

At Classic here in Plano now. Never received a letter but wanted to get it knocked out. They are telling me 1:30 total for service time?

Will not release previous service records wo prior owners consent. WTF? Luckily he is a buddy.

Had my recall service done and while they were at it, I had the battery that I bought Last month registered. Big mistake. Now everytime I turn the car off, for more than 5 minutes, I have to reset the time and date!! It was not doing that before. I called BMW on it and they simply said, it wasnt a BMW battery. The only fix is to buy their battery. gruhhhh!!

Bought my last two bimmers from Fields in Orlando, but since BMW of Ocala is closer, thought I'd give them another try (after having a couple of bad experiences). Set up an appointment for 10AM ... when I arrived there were a lot of people waiting for service, so I said "what about my 10 o'clock appointment?" ... the response was "we take 'em as they come in" ... and at that point I said "goodbye" and left. So I'll be going to Orlando after all ... where they actually honor appoinments!
