Smile 02' X5 Auxillary fan will not shut off

Daughter left the light on my 2002 BMW X5 and ran the battery down. When I jump started the auxillary fan came on and will now NOT shut off. I have to unplug so I wont run battery down and now ac won't cool. What do I need to do. Replaced the fan several months ago because it would not come on at all. I am a fix it myself kind of guy so please tell me what I need to do.

I thought if an interior light was left on it would shut off after about 15 minutes. I'm not sure but that's how mine is. As far as your fan not shutting off it may be your Final Stage Resistor.
Here is a DIY. You can check this by quickly swapping a new one as its not that hard to change out. Hope this helps.

RE: 02' X5 Fan will not shut off.

I thought so about the lights automatically turning off but somehow the battery ran down. Once I jump started the radiator/Aux fan came on and will not shut off. I replaced the resistor a few months ago and the aux fan last year. Would either go bad again because of the jump start? Could it be something else?

I don't think the FSR controls the Aux Fan. Check RealOEM.com for the location/parts #'s for the control relay for the fan as you may need to replace that.
