Post Tyres for E46, which did you choose?

Hi folk

My dear E46 is due a new pair of shoes, so I'd like to know which you've chosen.

I'm based in the UK (London), do 18 000 miles a year (a lot!), and am looking to pay up to 120 per tyre.

All I really want is something that'll last a long time and isn't too noisy, and of course safe in the wet.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Continental Extreme Contact DW or DWS depending on your climate.

If you get any amount of snow in your location, the Continental Extreme Contact DWS would be a good choice.

I read the General GMAX AS-03 is supposed to be a good tire, ranking up there with the Continental. They're a bit cheaper, too. I'm going to try them out this year.

I installed DWSs a few months ago and could not be happier with them. They match up perfectly with what you want in a tire.

I've got a $800 budget for my new shoes. Trying to swing Super Sports but I may go with my second choice which are the Continentals.

I went with the GMAX AS03's. Happy with my choice. They've proven to be pretty good so far.

If you don't mind the old PS2s they are cheap for the rear 255/35/18s at Discount Tires- $228 a piece. Lowest I've seen em local.

Conti DWS is around $150 for 205 50R17. Can not beat that!

Although we don't have them here, I've seen in the past on other forums/chats/whatever that Avon is a popular choice over there in the UK.

Thanks for all the wonderful responses. We don't seem to have the Continental Extreme Contact DW, however there is the Continental Premium Contact. This a good option?

I have Suumitomo HTR Z3's. They've got about 14k miles on them. Grip is still excellent, I can see another 14 or 15k miles in them, and they're still quiet. For a performance tire they were great value.
However, when they warn you about not driving them in freezing conditions, they aren't kidding. They turn into hockey pucks. Also, on snow, they're excellent flotation devices. Good for donuts though.
