Gotta Love BMW Braking Power!

Driving home from the Jeff Foxworthy comedy act last weekend in Atmore Alabama (around 1:20AM) while riding on "Bloody Highway 98" in Florida, the wife and I, mainly I, was getting really silly while listening to deafening loud music...coasting (55MPH) thru the blinking yellow lights when all of a sudden a big huge freaking cadillac come crossing right in front of me.

I stood on the brakes, the car felt like it squatted and sat down on the asphalt / pavement, antilock brakes chattered big time, minor skid and it just stopped on a dime, well maybe a quarter....what a rush...any other car I would have eaten the side of a caddy.

Thank You BMW for big brakes on 330ci's!...and I have 95K on OEM/Texstar pads too.

+1. I can think of at least one instance of my brakes keeping me out of a bad accident due to someone doing something stupid in front of me. Thanks BMW.

Seriously.

Had this happen to us last night, Peachtree Street, Atlanta, NB about 40+ mph Toyota Corrola crosses in front of us.

Stood on the pedal (thanks BMW Performance Center) and car just shuddered to a halt in what felt like 8 feet.

Missed the Toyota, who went blithely on his way across the intersection, by about a car length.

How was Ron White? Hopefully he was there, because that guy is funny! Yeah, the brakes on these cars are amazing. I can't understand why most manufacturers can't get brakes right, and insist on putting dangerously undersized hardware on their cars. I have an Acura SUV, and the brakes just flat out suk. The BMW brakes are just..... there. Anytime, under any conditions. When I get in other cars I have to catch myself and not take corners too hot because I know my brakes aren't going to bail me out.

No, Ron was not there...I was hoping one of his comedy buddies would show up un-announced, but Jeff got er' done.

I guess since Bimmers are so well balanced-almost 50/50 weight distribution-the car squats straight down during heavy braking instead of bowing forward like many lesser designed vehicles do during heavy braking.... it was that squat to the pavement feel that was really impressive. It was like all four struts collapsed and it sat down on the asphalt.
