Don't drop it down an elevator shaft from the 12th floor. That killed mine! Accidentally slid out of my hand and right across the slick elevator floor and over the edge while the door was closing. I couldn't believe it. It felt like I was being punk'd. Dealer replaced it for me no questions asked though.

Those keys are sealed pretty good. My 2003 key fob went through a lake swim years ago and showed no ill effects. I would still suggest you take it apart and let it completely dry out just in case (just the battery and key).

Take apart and clean with 97% or higher denatured alcohol to get rid of any contamenents and moisture.

That's better than having your one-year old throw it in the trash Sunday night and realizing too late as the trash collectors wish it away to a landfill probably in New Jersey.

and you can't even be angry with your kid! gave me chuckle to hear the story, though, reminding me of what it was like having really little ones.
