It's different, but not sure if I'm loving it. The CLS just has a better looking four door design (sans the tail lights). The GC just doesn't doesn't pull it off well IMO. It looks like an F13 Limo afterthought. I loved the previous CLS design.
I think that if I were to go with a four door, it would have to be 7. |

I'm not sure how I feel about it, either. Need to see it in the metal, of course, but it just looks (as Itin suggested) "stretched," as opposed to designed. And the missing decklid brake light seems odd.

I considered waiting for the 650ix version of this thing, but I think it's a ways off. I think it looks nice but the more I see it the more I like the coupe better.

Yea, I'm not loving it at all. It doesn't have the same stage presence as the F12/F13. I guess I just don't get it. I'd much rather an M5 for about the same amount. To really make that car stand out, it should only come in M Sport or tricked out like the concept. This, in just basic form, look, well...basic. IMAO

I can't get into it.
If I like it at all it's just up the front door panel. Back looks decent. But I'm trying too hard to like it. It just looks goofy. Last edited by JONNYCHIRO; 04-01-2012 at 07:56 PM. |

I would really love to have a useable back seat, though, so I am holding out hope.

BMW has a very nice mix of 4-Doors in their lineup. F10, F01/02, etc. if you want more power in a 4-door, then you have M3 Sedan, M5 and B7.
That said, to me, this is taking away from the awesome 2-Door GT it was designed to be. Maybe I will have different thoughts when I see it in person but as Thom mentioned, if I wanted a performance 4-Door at that price, M5 all the way. I havent priced a B7 but I'm assuming they are way up there. Last edited by Itinj6; 04-02-2012 at 10:30 AM. |

I think most of us would take an M5 over the 6GC, but I think this was more of a marketing decision than an ultimate driving machine (intentional lack of capitalization and quotations) decision. There's obviously a market for this type of 4-door coupe given the success of the CLS and the Audi equivalent. I imagine that the 6GC is going to be more for those buying the badge and the style than looking for the ultimate car... it's pretty damn hard to beat an M5. I'll be interested in seeing reviews comparing the M5 to the M6 GC. That might be the perfect combination as the M6 GC will probably have a little more character than the 6GC. I don't think an extra 45 hp is going to compensate for the added size and weight of the GC over the coupe version. Let the people at ///M tinker with it, and there's a chance that the M6 GC could be the ultimate version that gives you M5 performance with 6 Series luxury and style.
All that being said, this is what I would do... 1. I need to carry 4 adults on a regular basis, and I want something with all the toys and is very luxurious --> 750Li 2. I want the ultimate BMW and don't care about practicality --> M6 coupe. 3. I want the ability to carry 4 people if I need to but still have a fun car, and I can't afford an M6 + a 750Li --> M6 GC or M5 (pending the outcome of M6 GC figures). 4. I want a luxurious, exclusive (this excludes 5er/7er) BMW for carrying around the kids, and performance isn't a big concern in the car pool line --> 650i GC. 5. I want the best BMW I can afford at 23 that is beautiful and exclusive but isn't a nightmare to insure (like I assume a 560 hp M5 would be - also doesn't get the same style/exclusivity points) --> 650xi Coupe ![]() This is assuming the $2,000 a year insurance for my 6er is not "nightmare" territory. I should call my insurance company and see what an M5 would be just for laughs lol.

Invoice on a loaded B7 (because who doesn't load up their B7) is about $142,295.

Yep. I just don't think I could go B7 over M6. I'd rather get an M6 + X5/X6 for carrying people. BMW is great at telling Newton and his precious laws to go to hell, but a car as big as a B7 is never going to handle like an M6. I guess if you're looking at the B7 as a statement of wealth rather than a performance car, then you have your B7 market... although I'm sure the B7 is still a beast to drive

Hahaha, Newton may have thought that the apple fall on his head, but I'm starting to think Adolf von Hammershchmark threw it at him.
(don't google that name. I made it up lol) |

I love Newton. His laws and formulae have given me hours of pleasure - I wish I were kiding - but experiencing a car that BMW has created to stick it to Newton is so much more exciting (there is some hope left for me
).

I had a love/hate relationship with physics, but it was mostly love because I'm a masochist. Sad existence.

I love physics too. It rules us. But not when I have to memorize a 200+ page booklet in a week. The tests at the end of the subject were multiple choice, but every answer was correct. You had to pick the one that came right out of the book.

The original drawing and prototype were exciting cars. I can't tell if the wheels or the color are what weakens the look or something else.

I think the M Sport package with 20" wheels would help it. It still looks a bit like they just gave the coupe some Viagra, but the 19" (I think) wheels look like tiny casters, and the tiny poo shoots don't do the back any favors. The big exhaust pipes and the diffuser would give the back a bit more substance.
