BMW M5 SMG problem, stuck in gear-emergency transmission release

Hi guys.I've got a problem with my 2007 BMW M5.Somebody has broken to it and messed with the cars CAS unit and erased my keys from the car. When I put my key to the ignition there is a red warning light Steering wheel lock defective coming up and I can't start the car.I parked the car in a first gear and because I can't start the engine it is impossible to release the gear.Is there any emergency transmission release procedure with the SMG gearbox because I can't find anybody who can tow my car as it is stuck in a gear and I will not risk any transmission damage.thanks

No disrespect intended, but this is your first post, and you're asking how to move a car without a working key. Just sayin'...

Hi.Thanks for your helpfull post.Look I cant start the car, cant put it into the neutral, and it is parked in a way that it is almost impossible to get it towed so sorry but yes I'm asking for a help if there is any procedure how to put the car in Neutral. If you don't know just ignore it.It is bad enough if someone breaks into your car and then I can't even get it to the dealer.

Relax, there, Lee Harvey. Just have it towed- A tow truck operater has these really cool things called "dollys" that they put under your rear wheels before they pull it onto the flatbed.

Hi.Yes.That was the first thing I did.I phoned the dealer and the technician I was talking to told me that there is a slot next to the gearshift where I can put a screwdriver and put it to neutral. But as far as I know it doesn't apply for a SMG gearbox.Anyway tomorrow is coming a company with wheel dollies and they will take the car to the garage so fingers crossed :-)

I think it's funny when people asking questions have all the answers. First, you're on the wrong board asking about issues related to a M5. Second, my solution seems to have worked for this guy: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60...tow-truck.html.

Hi.Calm down mate.I said thank to you for your suggestion so no disrespect. And I don't know all the answers but definately know this one that disconnecting the battery will not help as I described the problem they messed with the car's CAS unit.BTW the link you sent me I'd read it before and as you can see as well disconnecting the battery didn't help that guy either. And a simple reason why I asked this question on this forum is that more people visit it so there was a bigger chance of getting an advice.Anyway the car is an a garage now so I will keep you updated.Again thank you very much for trying to help me I appreciate it.
