Mein Auto: 2001 BMW X5 4.4
Transmission Slipping.

Please Help... I have a 2001 BMW X5 4.4 with 146,000km and when i start to drive the RPM's rev up then the transmission seems to make a squawk and then kicks in. then my amber engine light came on then the trans failsafe prog came on. am i in need of a costly repair?

Not necessarily. The computer records all of these events and will be able to tell you exactly what happen and quite often reset or change perameters to correct the problem. Mine kept going into failsafe due to trany problems and it was totally repaired via computer. Find a good dealer. I have a private guy that works on european imports only and he is 1/4 the price and honest as they come. Hard to find a guy like this but if you do you can save thousands. If you are in Vancouver I can give you his number.
