Have summer conventional performance tires on 2011 535xiGT, with BMW mobility kit in trunk. Have heard conflicting info as to whether use of sealant in mobility kit will damage TPM sensors. New TPMS sensors are quite expensive I understand. Would appreciate any feedback/experience with using the sealant in a flat tire emergency situation. Did you have to replace the TPM sensor? With a simple puncture, did the sealant otherwise damage the conventional tire? Thanks for your time and feedback.

It's likely that the sealant will plug up not only the hole but the sensor as well. When I bought my winter tires, the second set of sensors for the new wheels cost about $240, if I remember correctly, from Tirerack, or $60 each. Don't know what the dealer may charge, but those from TireRack registered with the computer's pickups and have worked fine.
If you're lucky, you can just use the compressor to pump it back up without the sealant and drive to a repair shop. only if it is leaking too fast or you can't afford the time would you need the sealant. If not, they want $40 for a new cannister of the sealant, and that flat may end up costing you at least $100 if you also need a new sensor, not counting the original price of the mobility kit. There's no guarantee the sealer will seal the hole or if it can be properly repaired later, but that's true of any tire. BMW specifically says not for use on RFT's, but that's not your issue. |

And forget the sealant if you have a tear in the sidewall.....been there, done that.

I'll be going this route after I install 312s and Michelin PS A/S.

Nice move - you will appreciate the ride (IMO) even more. Continental makes a mobility kit too, FWIW.

Just bought it for the X5 along with 4 Conti DWS. Getting them installed today, eager to drive the X (It's been a while... she's been relegated to 2nd place since the GT arrived). If I like how it rides I'll probably end up getting them for the GT as well and saving the GoodYears for lease turn-in.
