Mein Auto: 2013 x3 3.5
I do not believe that any have been shipped, although a number of people who post on this site have 2013s on order. If anybody is aware of a 2013 that has shipped, let us know. Also, does anybody have a 2013 3.5 on order which shows anything beyond "in production" at BMWUSA. Mine has an expected completion date of 4-14 and I am guessing that it is in the 1st batch to complete production.

I just saw one at BMW of Bloomington over lunch. Deep sea blue. I like the wheels on the new 28i much better than the previous version!

On the "other" board, someone just took delivery of one today. He said:

"This morning my wife and I took delivery of our 2013 X3 28i. From signing on the dotted line to the car sitting at the dealer took about 21 days.

My first impressions are that the N20 works very well as a powerplant. The car has lots of pep and performed better than I expected on our way home in a 20 mile mix of interstate and other city traffic. Power and torque out of a full stop were good with a nice BMW tone to the engine. My comparison is a Z4 with the 2.5i and steptronic. While my wife and I are both recently retired, I have been known to (ahem) drive the Z4 in a 'brisk' manor.

The auto stop feature took me by surprise the first time the engine quit at a stop light, but the restart is instantaneous when the brake is released. I don't feel that this feature will be a problem at all. Otherwise, the car is smooth and quiet and everything we expected. Those that are awaiting delivery should be pleased".

Hope that helps some of you in waiting

thanks a lot for the infor. that is exactly what I am looking for.
Test drove the new 328 with the N20 and liked it. Was wondering how it feels on the heavier X3. Sounds pretty good then.

I also like the new wheel for 28i. The outgoing one has a wheel very much like the ones on my 11 sienna LE van. not very attractive.

I noticed that in the south dealers are starting to list the 2013 as being in their lots. How does the 2013 X3 28i handle from a stop? I passed on the 2012 because it felt so hesitant and am hoping the 2013 improves on this.

I think you are referring to the throttle tip-in delay design flaw. I don't think that engineer has been fired yet.

Sprint booster has a mod to fix the flaw on some bmw models but not the x3 yet.

Drove mine 150 miles home tonight! Ran great, plenty of power, lots of fun to drive. Im not sure if I like the eco shut off feature. Its a very noticeable clunk when it shuts down but comes back to life with no hesitation.

We're in the middle of love bug season down here so she already needs a bath.

I've had mine for 2 days now. Love it. I'm not sure about the auto shut off either. When at a longer stop I like it but I find myself doing rolling stops at stop signs...

The only thing I am not happy about is the fact that I didn't get the convenience package because keyless entry would have been really nice!

Picked up my wife's from Jon at BMW Santa Barbara. Drives great love it. You do notice the difference compared to 6cyl but doesn't mean it is bad just different.

Unfortunately I cannot comp to other BMW models.

I had an 07 AT X3. It was replaced by a MT 08 X3. I was very excited to hear about the new X3 until I found out no MT. When I step on the gas I want it to move. Not cough and then go so no X3 in my future unless this is corrected.

I had a change to drive the 2013 28i yesterday. I like the acceleration much better than 2012 and am glad I waited. It no longer has that lag time from a stop to get moving. The way the engine quits at a stop feels strange but I think I can get used to it and the dealer showed me how to shut off that feature and keep the engine running. I drive in bumper to bumper commuter traffic so i think it will be helpful to save gas.

Now, if only I could decide which color and get a decent price. Dealer offered me 3% off MSRP and a low ball trade-in price. They were annoyed I'd ask for any discount and said they were really hard to come by. Going to shop around to see if I can do better. They said it would take about 3-5 weeks for an order.

The Porsche Cayenne GTS is back with a manual transmission and the optional A/T if you are so inclined. The base Cayenne also offers an M/T. There are others as well, mostly the entry level offerings, but of course you can always buy a Boss 302 with a stick for less than a 28i X3!

If you order there is no 'overheard' for the dealership other than commissions, heating, electricity and other utilities and building maintenance (property costs). You pay for everything else, i.e. the car, freight, delivery, PDI, licencing, taxes etc. so you should be able to negotiate 6% off MSRP like everyone else. That way the dealer makes 3-4% profit for punching your name into the BMW ordering software.

I did find a dealer willing to offer 6% off today and do plan to take that. Thanks for letting me know that I wasn't being unreasonable. The first dealership even told me that if I bought elsewhere they wouldn't have any loaners available for me when I need my car serviced. The experience was almost juvenile.

Worth avoiding them like the plague. Can you imagine the service once they had your car in 'their' shop!

Ellen, I'd post the dealership's name and the SA on here and then mail him the link...merely stating your experience.

That's the way my dealer is also. And since I drive two hours one way to get to them, I don't have other options and must have a loaner.

Had the chance to test drive a MY13 two days ago (waiting on my PCD delivery scheduled 4/26, just a little over a week away!!!), it really drove well, although do agree with the stop/start feature, that will take some getting used to. Like others have said, didn't notice any lag when accelerating from a stop at all, so that problem appears to be a thing of the past. Put into sport mode and it's REALLY fun to drive.....not sure mine will come out of sport mode any time soon once I pick it up!!

Drive one and you will be sold, no doubt about it.
