Weekend Drop off in Munich still okay?

I am in the planning stages of my next ED. In the past, I would make advance arrangements with Harms/MADA for a weekend drop off. Basically I paid Thomas a vist when I picked up the car to complete paperwork and leave a key. Does anyone know if this service is still available? Thanks

I tried to get a weekend drop off for my delivery on March 22 in Munich, but they were not able to make accommodations for me!

Yes, it is still available. I had made arrangements for 5/2, with no problems, which I then moved it a week later... It is still by appointment only. I dealt with Christian Rengstorf email: transport (at) vikase (dot) com or drop-off (at) vikase (dot) com. HTH.

You can only drop off the car during normal business hours when someone is there to receive it.

I just dropped off mine 2 Saturdays ago, no appointment needed. Call them to make sure someone is there if you're cutting it close to closing time.

OK, with Thomas no longer there, can you still stop by and take care of the paperwork during the week and then just leave your car after hours or even on a Sunday as you could in the past?

Fair enough. It is written in plain English; however, I get what the OP and Northcar are saying. There was a time (I did it in February, 2007) when one could pre-arrange to leave the car at MADA after hours. As long as the vehicle condition report was completed and left in the car, and the paperwork had been filed (and a key left), the vehicle could be left at the office at any time.

If this changed with the untimely passing of Thomas, then the informal position has also changed (MADA and BMWED never acknowledged officially the ability to drop off after hours); those of us who are planning on dropping our ED vehicles off in Munich should be aware of the new policy. On the other hand, Thomas never had office hours on Saturday at all, so that is a bonus with the new outfit. I, for one, would have benefited nicely from this change as I almost had a heart attack racing back (in foul weather and heavy holiday weekend traffic) from Lake Como to make the 5:00 pm, Friday deadline

Sorry but not correct. Saturday hours at Harms in the Robert Bosch Straße started in Oktober 2007, concurrent with the opening of the BMW Welt.

I just arranged my flights to return to NY on a Monday so that I can drop off the car during regular business hours.

By the way, Lufthansa has rediculously low fares right now. I just paid $444 roundtrip (inclusive of all taxes) between Newark and Munich for mid-May.

What was your total cost of the fare? We booked a few weeks ago from Newark to Munich and return for two everything included $1280 on their 2-1 deal.

This may be of interest to anyone who finds it difficult to drop off at Vikase during business hours.....

ED Winter Tires provides a service whereby its customers can drop the car off with Annette Wagner (the ED Winter Tires representative in Ismaning, 3 miles away from the Vikase Drop-Off center in Garching), on a Saturday or a Sunday (or a weekday evening), and she will deliver the car to Vikase on the Monday (or the next business day, if left in the evening) The supplement for tire-rental customers for this service is 50 Euros, for others 75 Euros. She can also collect the car from a hotel or from Munich Airport (additional 25 Euros).

The only requirements are that a) the Vikase paperwork has already been completed and b) that her name is provided at BMW-Welt for them to note as an additional driver on the insurance, for which there should not be a fee.

Anyway you can add that info to the Wiki? Could be very useful.
