Cigarette Lighter?

I found out that there's no cigarette lighter in my car.... For the socket at the front center console, it's only a plastic black cap. It's weird because the manual says that it should be a lighter. I don't smoke but just a bit uncomfortable knowing that I'm missing something in my car lol.

I'm in NC so is it a local legal thing, or it's the same for you guys too?

lol thx for the advice. i don't smoke, but never know if a lighter would be useful in some other situations.

A lighter was not included with my 328i. You'd probably have to order the smoking option (assuming there is one) in order to get a lighter.

When will a lighter be useful?

Unles you are Humphry Bogart tying to pick up a chick who looks helpless with a cigarette in her hand?

My pre-LCI car was delivered with an ashtray and lighter. I think the ashtray was deleted as another BMW cost-saving measure with the LCI change. I'm pretty sure BMW deleted the associated wiring sub-harness, too.

Retrofitting the lighter and ashtray to a post-LCI car might be a challenge and cost a few $$$ but I'm sure it could be done.

The "smoker's package" with lighter and ashtray is a $0 factory option on the Porsche 991 and 981. My old Volvo came with an ashtray but a plastic plug in the lighter socket which was live for cell phones, GPS, etc. If you smoked, you could buy an actual lighter from the parts department.

If your car is pre-LCI, the previous owner might have discarded the lighter to discourage smokers.

I don't smoke, but I like having as many power sockets as possible.
