X1 E84 (2011 - current)
The new to the US BMW X1 will arrive at BMW dealers in the fall of 2012 as a 2013 model year. Get your X1 28i with either sDrive (RWD) or xDrive (AWD) or get the US exclusive I6 N55 powered X1 35i dDrive. |

Snow chains for Y Spoke 18"
Does anyone have recommendations for snow chains for the Y spoke 18" rims with all weather tires. We would prefere not to have to get snow tires for a trip to tahoe. I've seen conflicting reports and information about chains on the AWD 28i as well. Front and back? Just back? Thanks in advance. Our sales rep was really confused as well.

Snow chains are mounted on the drive wheels of cars (if its two wheel drive) and on the rear tires for AWD. So for the X1, that means rear wheels only for either model. The manual states all of this.
If you have summer performance tires they should not be driven in the cold. Last edited by Wolfex; 02-18-2013 at 11:52 PM. |
