E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993. |

How much is my 1987 325i red convertible with 74 miles worth?
I am having a hard time pin pointing what amount to sell my 1987 325i red convertible with 74K miles ? The car is in excellent shape - original paint and interior. The interior is tan leather. I just put new tires on the car and a new battery. The car runs wonderfully. The passenger side seat is showing a bit of wear and tear although there is no visible cracks where the stuffing is poping out. The car hasn't been enhanced in any way. I added a 12 disc CD player that we wired and stored in the back of the trunk. I really don't want to sell it, but I have 3 teen-agers and 2 pre-teens, and need to free-up room in my driveway for cars with airbags. What else can I provide to help assit with an answer on an estimate on what to sell the car.? The car has never been in an accident, and the only dings in the car are where acorns fell on it from the year it sat outside. The car has been garaged and only sometimes outside with a cover. Thanks!

Give us some pictures. People try to sell there E30's really high thinking thats how much its worth. In all reality it sits on criagslist for 3 months and is then put back into storage because no one is going to pay a lot for a old car that could have a ton of hidden problems. 4,500 maybe to high. Kkb would say its worth 2,500. Don't try to milk it for more thn Its worth and unload it to some unexpecting person that thinks its a good deal.

Thank you everyone for looking. The car is in amazing shape and low miles. I can't get over how there isn't one drop of rust anywhere. That just goes to show how incredible BMW's are.

Price it for $5K obo and take $3700, it's worth that at least IMO with minor/no rust.

id estimate it in the 4-5k region. as said above I'd list it for $5k OBO, but id probably try not to take anythign less then 4k. unless you really have no other interested buyers.

IMO, $5k minimum. Paid $6k for mine in'06 and have had offers way over that -- several a year. Here on LI, near the Hamptons, the market for really clean, classic cars is still pretty firm. Mine is a stick, though, which generates a bit more interest. GLWS (if you really have to get rid of it -- think hard!).

I just bought my 1990 325i convertible in original condition, new convertible top, everything works prefectly, mechanic checked it out top notch, bought it for $4,100 only because seller said he replaced AC part and it didn't work. 100 miles later, AC works just fine! I would have given him $4,600 asking price in a New York minute but I got it for $4,100!! My lucky buy. My leather seats need to be re-done though so I would have given you $4,600 for yours easy if not a little more. I suggest you ask $5,500 and work your interested buyers for serious offers after that. You can always come down on price, but you can't come up. If your not in a hurry, start there, after a month, come down on price. When you get to $4,000 message me! haha. Good luck and happy postings.

I've got a 90 with 105K miles (5spd) that is in good shape but not perfect. I listed it at 5 and hope to get 4K for it.

Great looking cabrio.
I think is worth at least $ 4,500 on the tri-State area (ny/nj/ct). Socal area you could get about $ 3,500 since there's so many rust free cabrios around there. in HI, well, maybe 2,500 as there's low demand for mid 80's german cars around here. GLWS Frank |

See my post above. I listed for $5000. Had many inquiries. Selling today for $4800. If that falls through I have a backup with a similar offer.
Had inquiries from 500 miles away. One person decided to email me to tell me I was way overpriced according to KBB. I may email him back to let him know it was priced correctly

That's right honey! You tell them that was just his opinion and KBB values are general values not taking precise conditions into account. Congrats on your sale and thank you for sharing your experience. It truely is a beauty!

It's pretty clear that the 5spd helped sell mine. I made the deal today and had 3 people lined up if that deal fell through. Most had e30 experience and were fine with the many quirks that come along with buying one. The guy who bought it is my neighbor who drove by it every day wondering if it was for sale.

Yes - I think I replied to your other email notcharlesjang, but let me know what information you need. And congrats on graduating college! Also, thank you everyone for all the information. I keep staring at the car, wondering if I can just move to a bigger house with a bigger garage instead of parting with the car a :-) If only...

I definately want someone to want the car who will love the car. I have had some people drive by and they saw the car out, and asked what I would take..but they wanted to give it to their 16 year old who just started driving...I couldn't do it. I know the kid...I wouldn't see my car in one piece again!
