E83 vs F25 comparison

I have to do it...

I spend roughly 4 hours a day in my 09 x3 (e83) and know it intimately well after 90k excellent miles. The question here is...what happens when you replace your e83 for a day with a new f25...

First reaction...

What the hell is this stupid shift lever. Reverse is up??? Why do I get an iDrive error when I shift...Grrr

Second reaction...who replaced the German steering feel with a Japanese rivals numb electronic steering? Double grrr...

Third reaction...why is there a throttle delay when I hit the accelerator in drive mode?

Fourth reaction...Awesome I can Bluetooth stream my iPhone and see everything on the screen! This is a slick feature...

After a few hundred miles...

Every initial reaction above is curable and I really like the car. If something happens to my e83 is nice to see they addressed some of the things I didn't like and improved them (transmission feel, radio, cup holders, improved interior) and I would gladly trade up.

For the gear shift lever.... Although it feels video game-ish it works well and you get used to it.

For steering feel you get old feeling back by activating sport mode...I was quit pleased when I figured this out. Although I was disappointed that you have to disable DSC to enter that mode.

Throttle delay. I scheduled an appt to get the software update. I expect good things as this ZF tranny is leap years ahead of my gm 6L50E in my e83. Sport mode on this car is insanely good!

Even iDrive is a welcome addition!

Everything else is equal to the old car...all in all I would not go out and trade my 09 in just to have the latest and greatest, but in another few 100k miles it is nice to see BMW is still a viable option!
