Question Arriving by train to Greenville

I just received my PCD date of May 7 for my 2013 X5; I will be arriving by train but I don't think there's a place on the Travel form for that (will arrive Sunday) - anybody from the PC have any idea as to how to notate that?

I came up from Atlanta on the train arriving around 11PM and was picked up no problem.

Coming from the North don't you arrive Greenville at some ungodly hour?

You can just put Amtrak in for the flight info. You can also note it in the email when sending in the travel information.

As noted above, be careful of the arrival times. The Greenville Marriott only operates the shuttle service from 5am to Midnight. If you arrive late or after midnight, you'll have to call a taxi to get from the train station to the Greenville Marriott.

FYI.. you'll want to get off in Greenville, NOT Spartanburg.

Ungodly is correct - 4:54 AM - this is one time I hope a train is running a little behind so I can shower - got a "roomette" and the cars usually have a shower. I was hoping my son at UGA would drive up to meet me but he has fiinals (and a 2006 X3 we bought CPO).

Thanks - that's what I did - train arrives at Greenville at 4:54 AM - I'm sure the Marriott drivers will love to get a call at 5:00 AM to go to a train station. Will see you on the 7th of May (I guess I'll be spending the day at the Greenville Marriott when I arrive Sunday AM).

Once you recover and get rested... arrange with one of the hotel Bellmen to take you downtown Greenville. A lot of cool things to see and do. Can easily occupy an afternoon, especially if the weather is nice.

See you soon

My son planned on driving up from Athens Georgia after finals the night of May 7 for our PCD on May 8; he's now thinking of driving up early May 8 since he's finished with finals and may just continue home to MD. Can he drive to the factory or should he drive to the hotel?

The shuttle will leave the Marriott at about 7:45am to bring everyone here. He can drive to the Marriott and follow the shuttle over if he will arrive before then.

Or, he can drive straight to the BMW Performance Center. He would need to try and arrive before 8am if he wanted to participate in the driving. Since he is not staying at the hotel, he will need to complete a waiver during the driver debrief at 8am. Guests staying at the hotel will have waivers in their welcome letters when they check in to complete and bring with them that morning.

Don't have him go directly to the BMW factory as we are at a seperate location. Most GPS systems won't have our street address in them, so you would need to use Google Maps (click here for direct link) or use the following:
  • I-85 north to exit 60 (Highway 101).
  • Turn left on Highway 101.
  • Continue for approximately 1 mile (going through several red lights / don't turn left into BMW Manufacturing entrance).
  • Our facility will be on the right (BMW sign with BMW Performance Center on the right at our first entrance). First or second entrance will work and you can park in any available parking spot in front of the lobby.

Hope that helps

Just a note to thank you and your staff for a wonderful experience on May 8 at the PC. My son met me there (after he botched your directions) and we truly enjoyed the whole day as I picked up my X5 for the 500 mile trip back to Maryland. The whole day was informative and fun - even for a jaded 20 year old college student. To the off-road instructor who is a Washington Caps fan - sorry I almost ran you over - I couldn't believe how far at an angle that vehicle could tilt! Thanks again - BHF M.D.

Thanks! It was great to meet and talk to both of you. Glad you enjoyed the day.

Enjoy your new BMW X5

Question

Thanks again!! I just went over vehicle and noticed a first aid kit and emergency triangle mentioned in manual were not in cargo area or behind panels - were these deleted from the 2013?

Those are only available in Europe and some of the other countries. The owner's manual is basically written for mutiple regions and then translated into different languages.

Thanks - definitely not a necessity - removed a first aid kit one from a 2004 RX350 my daughter just sold when we cleaned out the car and noticed the seal had never been broken! With a Riteaid/CVS/Walgreens on every corner extra bandaids not needed in D.C./Maryland.
