Women in need of iPhone audio help

Hi all,

Just got the z4. Right now, I can play my music through the iPhone via Bluetooth, but the system does not recognize and of the song, and i have to change tracks using the iPhone.

Also, when I plug in the phone to the USB adapter, I cannot access music either?

I was assuming that the BMW system would be same (though hoping better) than the Audi, which allows full control over music and telephone from the main console vs. iPhone...

Any ideas?

One of the USB ports (mine is in Glove compartment) is for importing music and updating s/w only. Try another USB port (mine is in handrest).

Are you using the correct BMW cable? The Apple USB cable doesn't work.

For our 2012 Z4 without Navigation, the part number is 61 120440796.

This cable connects your iPhone or iPod to the usb and a 3.5mm audio connectors in the center console under the armrest.

I have changed over from a BMW 6 series to a Z4, had it only a week. The previous post shows how to connect an ipod/iphone into the cars stereo system. You should also be able to pair your Iphone into the telephone system via bluetooth connection. All this is dependant on whether or not you have the various modules added to your car. the manual is quite helpful.

I ran out at lunch a took a snap shot of the correct BMW adapter cable in our Z4. ..

Thank you so much. I was using the apple cable. I will be the BMW cable. That is great - thank you! Really appreciate the help. I was worried that I had spend the extra 3.5k for nothing then! :o)
