Z3 won’t idle after removing the intake manifold.

I had to replace the heater pipe on my 2001 Z3 3.0i. I removed the intake manifold replaced the pipe and reassembled. Now it will not idle, the throttled is erratic with occasional back fires. Does anyone have any ideas?
