Intl roaming horror stories (mostly re data)

My offer to mail out UK GiffGaff sims to American Bimmerfest members still stands. At the moment I have one unactivated SIM available.



20p for 20Mbytes . Calls to the US are 10p/minute. If you use a LOT of data, you can get a month of unlimited data for £10.

Its ridiculous, but the EU law that passed last year helped a lot too. They cap your data roaming at 50€ within the EU (at least o2 did, but it never worked outside of Germany anyway). The only problem is when people go to multiple countries, it gets problematic (especially in CH). We just put the AT&T package on one iPhone that was our "lifeline" and sparingly used when outside Germany.

Yeah. The GG sim only makes sense if you have enough usage to justify the £10 minimum top-op. For me that would be somewhere around $20. Less than that and the savings aren't worth the hassle.

GG's roaming charges for Europe are lower than what US carriers charge, but you far better off getting sim for the country you are in.
