Help...both fob remotes don't work
They both don't unlock/lock my car. And when I get in, I can't turn on the car or ignition unless I hold the key to remote, otherwise it gets me error message saying key not found etc.
Any thoughts ?? My car has only 2k miles

Change the battery in the remote or use your SOS button. Hopefully one of those options will work.

It's both fob remotes not one , so can't be battery. Called up assist and roadside and they both said to call up dealer who is unfortunately closed.

What good is assist if they can't help? Can you drive your car?

Change battery in remotes first. I had the same problem, yes, both can go bad.

I can drive the car as long as remote is held near steering column.

Thanks TJ. I will go to dealer Monday morning. I am still skeptical though re battery in that 2 fob key remotes will go bad at same time in under 2000 miles. I guess it can happen but I thought the chances of that happening now slim to none. Oh well.

I went to dealer, got a loaner, did the whole schpeal. They replaced the battery in the remote. I kinda just wished I went to Riteaid and not had to go through the hassle.

Are you saying that the FOB was just hungry for power?

Quaker. I guess so!!!
TJ. No I didn't. But I did sort of abuse my car and take it to 90% of its potential in today's BMW CCA car control event. Turn off dsc/dtc; heavy ABS braking; 180 degree spins etc. Coincidence??

none. It's meant for that. If you don't drive the car a lot or leave the key in the car, there is a tendency for the car to "stay awake" and not go into what is the equivalent of sleep mode, thus draining the battery both in the car and in the fob. Get a smart charger and swap the batteries in the key fob. It's a common problem with easy solution.

Check out the thread below, had the exact same thing happen two weeks after i got my car. Both remotes stop working after the car has been sitting in the sun. It worked fine in the morning and after sun set. My dealer had to replace the reciever in the steering column. Hope it helps

UPDATE:
My dealer picked up my car for service Monday and dropped it off back at work today at noon stating that problem is fixed (battery replaced). I shared with my sa the forum thread posted by Diplomat above. He said he can't go by what's in the forum etc etc. Anyways I parked the car at the top of garage in sun and at 5p I go to unlock door and fob doesn't work AGAIN!! So call and leave a frustrated VM and he calls back saying that he has opened a case with BMW, whatever that means, and that they will come pick up the car tomorrow again from me. So let's see. Will keep you all updated as it progresses.

UPDATE 2 (hopefully FINAL!!!):
So thanks to DIPLOMATIC (who emailed me a copy of the invoice), I used that to email it to the SA to advise them of this issue. A day later I get a call saying that "oh yeah we figured it was the FBD as well (YEAH RIGHT!!!) just like that dealer". So long story short, part has been ordered, should be in by 2pm today and hopefully I will get the car by tomorrow. Thanks to all of you, especially DIPLOMATIC for following with up so diligently.

I also see the dealer's side of it. 95% of the people who walk through the door are complete car morons, like the guy in front of me who didn't blink an eye at paying $1,100 for two new rear tires. Zoinks! They wouldn't know a service bulletin if it bit them in the ass. Also, there is the process of approval and parts. You can't get paid for just trying something out. You've got to get permission to take action under warranty, esp. when expensive. And sometimes you simply can't get the right computer information (codes) to get the approval for the repair.
