I use the speed limit warning. I have it set to 70 because above that you risk a ticket on freeways here. Great feature!

I didn't think the speed limit info feature would be useful for me because in the past, I wouldn't be categorized as an 'aggressive' driver.......Until now..... As I mentioned, I easily can find myself going 80 or 90mph on the freeway without so much knowing until I luckily catch myself via the HUD. I even find myself trying to look down the road for potential cops on the side trying to gun down speeders! So maybe it would have been a useful feature.

OP, after reading a lot of posts on forums in last 2 years, I formed an opinion about owning a BMW - I'm not saying it is the truth, it's just my opinion. There are just 2 groups of people which will be perfectly and 100% happy about owning a BMW no matter what. Those two groups are:

1. People who HAVE to have a roundel on the hood for whatever reason they think they do.

2. People who get up at 6:30 AM on a Sunday morning and hit the road with no destination, as long as the said road involves some corners and no other "drivers" on it. Cops are gone from Saturday night prowl looking for drunks, the said drunks and idiots are in bed by now and other people are still sleeping. Roads are yours to enjoy and you get back home two hours later for breakfast with idiot grin on your face - even if you were driving an Accord.

If you belong in one of the above groups, get that 3 series sight unseen - I guarantee you total joy of ownership. In all other cases, you will always second-guess the decision to spend almost $50,000 for that car. There are
- faster
- sportier
- more reliable
- more luxurious
- more prestigious
cars that cost somewhat less or a whole lot less than 3 series. But NONE of them really compares with 3 series. As other people mentioned above, the whole package is a whole lot bigger with 3 series than other competitors.

Ultimately, I also found out that the following saying is very much the truth - "Those inside [a BMW] cannot explain, those outside cannot understand."

What the above makes the OP, since he had been inside [a BMW] and seemed to be able to explain it rather eloquently?

Dealers have a way of exaggerating special order wait times because they want you to buy something they already have in stock. Sometimes you have to be very explicit: "You don't have the car that I want. If I ordered a 335i today when would it arrive?"

Ha! I did that exact thing yesterday and today! Although thankfully not in an Accord.

OP. you can't tell dick from a short test drive. See if you can somehow get the dealer to give you the car (even one of their loaners) for a day or try to rent one. You will learn a lot more spending a full day with the car. The fact you didn't even discover/enjoy sport mode says a lot about the quality of your test drive.

I don't think there is anything wrong if the OP did not enjoy the 3, after a short test drive or long one, in sport mode or in limp mode, people have different priorities and different standards of enjoyment.

This line would be great for ALL Bimmer commercials! This quote says it all!

My point is that the average person spends hundreds of hours a year in their primary automobile. You can't tell a lot from a short test drive.

FYI -- the Altima goes from 0-60 in 5.9s.
I felt a huge difference between the modes. In eco pro i literally floored it and nothing happened, sports mode was very different. I think you should test all the modes before concluding anything.

Hi Malc I am not talking about the option that displays posted speed limits for the road, I'm referring to the speed warning you set in iDrive. I'm sure you have this I think it's standard. It displays a warning in HUD and also a sound if you exceed the speed you set it to.

Yes. You definitely need to drive it in sport mode.

I would take another drive and check out Sport mode. I'll echo what everyone else has said- there is a very noticable difference in throttle response when switching between comfort and sport.

It isn't just 0-60 5.7 or 5.9, it is the torque that sucks your eyes in. So, there is a big difference between 180 @ 3900 RPM and 260 @ 1250 RPM.

My Millennial yoga instructor just bought a F30. The first thing she told me about it was, "It's an eco-friendly car; it get's 36 mpg". It's disappointing when the first thing someone tells you about their new bimmer indicates that, to them, it's an economy car.

I don't think that's disappointing. One of the major selling points of the F30 for me is the combination of great power and great economy.

Forget those 0-60mph. If you do a street race (mashing it from idle), the 328i has no chance to match the Altima V6 in acceleration.

The Altima V6 also has quad exhaust to match that of the M3.

As far as that Yoga instructor in the earlier post, of course she bought the fuel economy part of the F30. Greatness is achieved through inner peace and meditation, not crashing through the apex at 5000 RPM.

+1 Thanks for the heads up on this....Even though we had our Bimmer since launch, I still find out these tidbits about our new F30. Yes, I admit it....I don't read the manual. That is what is great about this forum! Thanks again for this helpful info my friend....I'm on my way to the garage to test this out! and maybe take a quick drive.....
