I don't know about that whole "mustang feels more engaging at the red light" idea... Before buying my '12 328i I tested a 2015 mustang with supposedly about 300hp. You can imagine my excitement as I got into that stylish new mustang design with 3.7l of american muscle and all that hp. Well I floored it about 5 times with the sales guy right next to me in the side seat. I was like... "huh" where did all that hp go?? I can tell you one thing for sure, it definitely never found its way down to the pavement!! I feel like my 328i with 240 hp has a LOT more kick all over the band than that stang I drove!

I must concur with all of these comments. Even my old e36 felt, in all respects, like a car conceived, designed, and built by people who love to drive cars. It was a joy to drive and it was NOT fast. My 335xi is stock and would get walked by a new 5.0 Mustang in a straight line but when the road gets twisty, that same stang pilot will be wondering where that little grey coupe went. It's truly an apples and raisins discussion, and I like both. It just depends on what kind of overall experience you're after. Have you sampled an M3 yet???
