09 750li Trany kicks from 20 to full stop.
Hello. 09 F02 not x drive transmission kicks when going from 20 to full stop. It happens once in a while on my vehicle. Do you have the same problem in your vehicle?
Thank you Last edited by syavik; 04-24-2012 at 06:22 PM. |

What does this mean; that when you put it into Park, it continues to roll a little before getting into gear (Park)?

When you are driving 20 mph and coming to the stop.

Since new my transmission has had harsh downshifts from 3rd to 2nd and from 2nd to 1st gears, most noticeable when coasting, but after visiting the dealer numerous times, I've been told same is normal.
You seem to be experiencing something different. Sorry I cannot be of further help... |

I have not experienced that on my 7 series, that's not the norm. |

Did you try resetting the transmission? Google the procedure.

It worked for me in the past when I had my 2008 535i. I think the 2009 750 has the same or similar 6 speed transmission. Nothing lost other than a minute of your time giving it a try.

I had that problem with my 07 750. It was under warranty, so they replaced some type of electronic module on the transmission and it fixed things. I want to call it the ECM but I can't recall.

check out the e65/66 board, it's full of tranny issues, and the f01/02 has the same zf 6 speed as the e65/66 (2013 gets the 8 speed). No one has fully answered the question of why it shifts harshly, and worse yet, there is no single fix, and possibly no fix. People who have had a new tranny installed, say the harshness comes back in a few months.

Ok, it's not that bad, so I'll deal with it I guess

Correct. I've had the same problem since last August and did the reset twice. It's good for a few weeks then gets harsh again.
Dealer here says there's no ECM flash for this one. They can flash the system but it won't correct harshness...

Is everyone writing about the 'transmission kick' syavik writes about or the 'harsh downshifts' I've mentioned?

I guess, nobody else has this problem, not that there is a major kick.

Did you try the reset?

Yes, but trany didn't make any noise, possibly it's a different procedure. Can anyone else try resetting procedure?

Please stop perpetuating the internet myth of a "transmission reset procedure". There is no such thing! The ZF 6 speed transmission has been and continues to be problematic. Part of the problem is the quest for fuel economy over performance and refinement in engineering and design.

I tried the reset on my car yesterday, didn't have any noise from the tranny after pressing the pedal for 1 min. The car drives no different than before, well, not that I have harsh downshift anyway.

My personal experience says otherwise. I can't say there isn't anything inherently wrong with the transmission, but the procedure did smooth out the shift issue I was having.
